#2618 EVENING GROSBEAK
As a teen, I used to see great flocks of Evening Grosbeaks at our bird feeders, when I lived in Canada. I haven't seen one, since then, but the desire to carve them has stayed with me all these years. Now that desire is realized!
This is a life-sized, pocketknife rendition of this beautiful and gregarious species. I carved it in a somewhat alert pose, with its head turned slightly to the right.
This particular bird is mounted for the wall on an attractive piece of Adirondack wood that happens to have a small hole in it, made by a Downy Woodpecker.
Numbered, signed by the artist, and dated on the back of the base.
