Elizabeth Brandreth wrote a poem that beautifully expresses my feelings about the Adirondacks.
These are the mountains of my heart, . . .
the mountains that have been to me
a world apart,
to love . . .
as some men love the sea.
I do not ask for lofty peaks,
the might range,
the snow-crowned dome.
To these the heart within me speaks!
Here is my heart!
and here my home !
the mountains that have been to me
a world apart,
to love . . .
as some men love the sea.
I do not ask for lofty peaks,
the might range,
the snow-crowned dome.
To these the heart within me speaks!
Here is my heart!
and here my home !
We enjoyed a family reunion at the cabin, all last week [August 3-8, 2019].
Here is a picture taken last Monday evening of five of my grandchildren and me.
Caleb [3], Leah [5], Brennan [13], me [!!], Makayla [9], and Leah [7].

A beautiful basket of flowers hanging from the eaves of the screened porch.
One load of firewood, all cut up and ready to split. June 10, 2016
The same firewood as above, all split and stacked. June 11, 2016 !! [Almost two full ranks, above.]
The "back side" of the cabin; the sunporch.
A healthy assortment of wild ferns I transplanted last year. The attractive stump was a gift from a South Carolina carving student.
One of the Trail Cams captured this image of me walking to the studio, mid-afternoon on a hot day [82 degrees], almost exactly a year ago from the date I am posting this picture [9-12-19].
The same Trail Cam captured an image, three months later, of me carrying Cardinals and paints to the studio on a snowy day, after lunch [I assume], in 26 degrees.
