I really enjoy painting. A few of the pictures I've made through the years are shown here. Some are available in the Pondside Studio Store.
This is an acrylic painting I made "en plein air" from the top of "Hosley's Hill" shortly after moving to Long Lake, NY, in 1984.
We lived quite a few years in this charming village; three of our four children were born while living here.
The painting was never finished, but I like it just the way it is. It shows a view of the main street through town as it passes the Northern Borne grocery store - where my wife and I were employed at the time.
It was painted in the very early Spring - before the mountains began to "green up".
This painting captures a glimpse of Long Lake as it looked years ago.

This is one of four small (3 1/2') decorative canoe paddles I made and painted while living in Long Lake. One, as I recall, was of a Great Blue Heron; another of a Loon; the last was of a Belted Kingfisher.
I took all four of them to the Adirondack Museum to sell in their gift store. But I was back in a few days to reclaim this one; I couldn't bear to part with those paddles, and I wanted one for myself.
A smaller painting of a perching Osprey is on the handle of this paddle.

"A Bright Spot in the Adirondacks"
A palette knife painting of our neighbor's barn on Rte. 86.

"My Friend, Ed"
A palette knife painting. A very attractive painting - in real life - for a very special friend.

"Making Tracks"
2011 Palette Knife painting for another good friend, Mr. Gary Hodgson. Almost everything Gary is wearing or carrying in this picture, he made himself.
In this painting, Gary is walking his trapline, and deer-hunting while he does so (there's a rifle tucked under his right arm, and a backpack on his back).
Few people are as comfortable in the woods, or as knowledgable about them, as this fine man is.
"High Ledge"
A 2011 palette knife painting of a typical scene near the top of an Adirondack mountain.
"Aspen Light"
A 2011 palette knife painting showing some bright autumn color in the woods. Like palette knife paintings in general, this picture shows best from a distance.
A palette-knife painting I made in the studio during the winter of 2016 as a demonstration during painting lessons I was giving my daughter, Shannon.
